Abstract:Matched filter technique(MFT) is a rapidly developing algorithm for micro-signals detection,which could detect small,uncatalogued events based on their similarity to the template events. MFT is widely applied in many fields(e.g. image identification,space exploration), For earthquakes detection,it helps to obtain a more complete catalog,contributing to a better evaluation of the regional stress state and background seismicity. In this paper we briefly illustrate the fundamental of MFT with a flow chart,expound the applications of this technique in detection of foreshocks and aftershocks,remotely triggered earthquakes,induced seismicity,and non-volcanic tremors. We also introduce some advanced algorithms to accelerate MFT and improve the accuracy of detection.
