Abstract:The geoelectric field and geomagnetic data of the Jiangsu seismic stations is used to calculate the polarization and seepage azimuth angle of each station in this paper. The azimuth angle is calculated by two methods:harmonic amplitude and peak and valley value. The results are compared and used to carry out the relationship analysis with earthquakes. The result shows that:(1)there is linear polarization and much nonlinear polarization phenomena in the polarization azimuth of the Xinyi seismic station and Nanjing seismic station because of the shallow cover layer of the stations, while the polarization angle of the Gaoyou and Hai'an stations are mostly nonlinear polarization phenomena, because of the thickness cover layer.(2)The difference of the seepage azimuth angle between the peak and valley method, and the harmonic amplitude method is small. The gap of the seepage azimuth angle between the ideal models is smaller than the polarization azimuth angle. Therefore,it is basically reliable to try to use the seepage azimuth to attempt the relationship with earthquakes.(3)The seepage azimuth of the Gaoyou seismic station has a good correspondence with the Gaoyou-Baoying MS4.9 earthquake.
